What is the saying about March coming in like a lamb and going out like a lion? Or is it vice versa? We certainly have had our share of rain this winter, and it is still coming down as I type this newsletter. The hills are green, the air smells fresh and we finally get to wear our rain boots without feeling ridiculous.
Welcome to our sporadic newsletter. My name is Krista Harris, for those of you are are new here. And for those who have been with us a while know just how sporadic this newsletter has been of late. Thank you for sticking with us.
One of the things that has been keeping me busy is my upcoming role in the Los Alamos Theatre Group’s latest play, Cottonwood. If you are in the area and interested in lively community theatre, please check out the show dates.
As of writing, there are still tickets left for: Friday, March 15 (opening), Friday 3/22, Saturday 3/23, Sunday 3/24 (matinee), and Sat 4/6. But dates may sell out or get added, so check the link below.
I’d love to see you there. I’m particularly excited about opening night. After the show, there will be a wine and nibbles reception, so the actors can mingle with the audience.
The Los Alamos Theatre group produces original plays and donates the money to local charities. Cottonwood is their 10th production and promises to be the company’s long anticipated and much feared exposé of small town life.
When plans for a posh real estate development threaten to tear apart the goodwill and neighborliness in the quaint town of Cottonwood, gentrification is reduced to a four-letter word, change is a cry to battle, friends become enemies, and law turns to disorder.
If you haven’t already purchased tickets, now is the time to act. Click the button below for all the details or call 805 344-1144.
Many thanks to Bob’s Well Bread Bakery, Full of Life Flatbread, Lumen Wines, Marisa Matela, Pico, Plenty on Bell, Rockets Red Wine, Santa Barbara Vintners Assoc., Kathleen & Mike Terry, Visit The Santa Ynez Valley, and the LATG for making the opening night reception possible. If you’re attending another performance, complimentary beverages will be available prior to curtain time.

It’s still citrus season, and I have been trying to think of novel ways of using up my Meyer lemons—lemonade, salt preserved lemons, lemon curd, lemon cakes and cookies. It’s possible that by the time citrus season is over, I will be thoroughly sick of lemons, but somehow I doubt it. Lemon is one of those flavors that works equally well in savory and sweet dishes.
