This week is going to be quick. I’ve been harvesting plums, making jam (I’ll share the recipe in the magazine) and tending to the summer garden.
I love the fragrance of the summer vegetable garden — ripe plums, roses and the spicy smell of tomato stems on your hands as you’re harvesting tomatoes. And there is something about the afternoon sun that brings out the scent of the basil and all the other herbs in the garden. Inspiration for summer meals.
Here’s what I’m making this week:
Variations on this Cucumber Salad (I have a lot of cucumbers in my garden right now, and I just got more in my Plow to Porch box).
If I have leftover plums after making jam, I’m making this Upside Down Plum Cake.
I’ve rarely met a Gazpacho I didn’t like. My recipe for Gazpacho Verde is wonderful this time of year. I love to garnish it with little Sungold tomatoes cut in half.
I’ve asked for you to help us chart our future in the magazine with our Reader Survey (and many thanks for all that have responded!) But I thought it would be good to ask you about this email newsletter. So, here are a couple quick polls that you can answer in a second and then get back to enjoying summer.
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate all of you who have subscribed and continue to read this email newsletter. For more inspiration and tidbits, you can find us online and on social media.
